Director's Notes
Hello Jubolums around the world!

After a last minute change of venue for Tour 2012, we do have a nice looking tour ahead of us, and I am excited about the places we will be singing and the work we will be doing. The schedule is reported on the website, and I hope you will look it over, come if you are close to hear us sing, and pray for us as we carry out the mission of Jubilate.

We continue to actively recruit, and in the last week, through the work of our members, I have had 3 contacts about Jubilate, and one of these has come to audition. It is too late to sing with us this semester, but hopefully they participate in some of our other activities and join their voices with ours in the fall.

Our program for tour focuses on the Holiness of the Lord. On the first half of the program we are singing many diverse settings of the "Sanctus" text - from Palestrina to Michael W. Smith.

The second half of the program has 4 setting of Moses Hogan spirituals, and two anthems that we have enjoyed learning - "We Are Not Alone" and "Shine On Us." We are contemplating "adding" an

anthem - one that we may be learning on the bus on tour. Someone introduced me to Queen Latifa singing "Fix Me, Jesus" in the movie "Joyful Noise." We love it and want to sing it, but the music is not yet in print. I have the solo and most of the choir parts on paper now, and once I can finish that we will put this together.

This spiritual - "Fix Me Jesus" is an old spiritual, but relevant to us all today and in all ages of our lives. Even Paul wrote that, while he knew what was right, he often found that he did what was wrong - he likened it to a war within himself (see Romans 7, especially the last half of the chapter). We all need "fixing" from time to time. Even Jubilate is due for a "fixing" - a revival amongst our members of our mission - to proclaim the good news of Christ through our music. Pray with me that as we work and sing on tour this year, that God will touch us all once again with a zeal for sharing the good news of Christ!

Thank you for your prayers - thank you for your monetary support. Please come see when you can!

PS: 2013 is a reunion year! I am looking forward to seeing you all in Charlottesville and making glorious music together !!

Hello, All!

As the semester progresses, we in Jubilate have been hard a work preparing a great musical line-up for Tour 2012. We recently returned from winter retreat, where we traveled to Roanoke, Va, to Vinton Baptist Church. During retreat we worked on all of the music that we will be singing next semester, as well as had some great fellowship time! We were unable to perform during their Sunday morning services, but we are trying to plan a trip back later in the semester so that we can thank the church with our music. We would also like to thank all of the alumni who ventured out to Roanoke to cook for us, and hang out with us during this retreat.

We are currently working very hard to perform on tour this year, where we will be doing an Alternative Spring Break-style tour. We are working

with Habitat for Humanity in Providence, Rhode Island, and also singing in Rhode Island, as well as Massachusetts and New Jersey. We will also be spending a day in Boston before we return from tour. And don't forget the Homecoming Concert at 5pm on Sunday, March 18, 2012. We hope may of you can plan on being there!

Thank you so much for your continued support and prayers. We would not be able to continue on in this ministry without any of you. We diligently ask that you continue to pray for us and our plans as we travel north this semester.

Jubilove,

Alyson West, Steering Committee President
